fozmu CLI v1.3: Your Whole Dev Setup, One Command

Our free, open-source terminal panel gets note cards, checklists, a full Git dashboard and smarter dev tools. Type fozmu and go.

Every developer has the same ritual: open a terminal, cd into a project, check what changed in git, remember which build command this repo uses, and dig up the notes you left yourself last week. We got tired of doing that dance, so we built fozmu — a terminal control panel that puts all of it behind one word. Type fozmu in any terminal and the Fozmu Studios panel pops out.

Version 1.3.0 is the biggest update yet. It's free, open source under the MIT licence, and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

What fozmu does

The panel is built around your projects folder (~/Fozmu by default) and gives you a menu for everything you'd normally do by hand:

  • Projects — search with /, sort by name, last modified or git activity, and open any project in your file explorer, your editor or a fresh terminal.
  • Git dashboard — branch, changed-file count, ahead/behind against upstream and the last commit for every repo at a glance.
  • Dev tools — detects Node, Rust, Go, .NET, Python, Godot, Unity, Unreal, LÖVE and Docker Compose, then runs build, run or test for you.
  • New project — scaffold a folder and README with a description, and optionally git init it, in seconds.

What's new in 1.3

Notes that look like notes. Every project now has a description plus Google Keep-style note cards. Write text notes or checklists, tick items off, pin important cards to the top and recolour them. On a wide terminal they render in a two-column masonry layout.

Project status. Mark a project active, idea or archived and filter the list by it. A recent-projects jump list sits right on the main menu, and fozmu <name> opens a project straight from your shell.

Real git actions. Drill into any repo from the dashboard to pull, push, commit everything, check status or read the log, without leaving the panel.

Smarter dev tools. fozmu now spots your Node package manager (npm, pnpm, yarn or bun), and you can set custom build, run and test commands per project or launch them in a new window.

Config and export. ~/.fozmu/config sets your editor, projects root and theme, and one command exports every project's description and notes to a dated Markdown file.

Since 1.3.0 the Windows panel has also picked up arrow-key navigation in every menu and a theme picker that recolours the FOZMU logo live as you browse the colours.
