moonfall.world: A Website You Break by Scrolling

Moonfall has a home. Scroll down moonfall.world and the moon cracks open above you, and it stays broken, even when you come back.

Moonfall, our new 2.5D Roblox project, now has a home on the web: moonfall.world. It isn't a normal landing page with a logo, a few screenshots and a button. It's one continuous fall from deep space down to the surface of a broken moon, and you are the one who breaks it.

The moon remembers

Here's the trick we're proudest of. The further you scroll, the more the moon cracks. Scroll back up and nothing heals. Close the tab, come back tomorrow, and the cracks are still there, because the site remembers how far you got. If someone asks what moonfall.world is, the answer is simple: it's the site where you break the moon by scrolling, and it stays broken.

There are no videos or pre-rendered images doing the heavy lifting here. The moon, its glow and every crack are drawn in code, live in your browser.

One descent, eight moments

The page is built as a single journey instead of separate sections. A small rail on the left tracks where you are:

  1. Orbit — dark space, cold stars, a small silver moon far away. Calm.
  2. Approach — the moon grows and the first hairline cracks start to glow.
  3. Fracture — the moon fills the screen as the cracks race across it.
  4. Descent — you drop through the clouds. No text at all, on purpose. It's the held breath before the big moment.
  5. Bob — our custom character stands on a ridge with his back to you while the cracked moon's light pours straight into him. This is the peak of the page.
  6. Glimpse — the world dims for the trailer and screenshots.
  7. Signal — devlog, Discord and updates.
  8. Landfall — everything settles. The corrupted moon hangs overhead, Bob looks up at it, and there's one button left: play.

Why build it like this

Moonfall is a game about the moon and the power it holds over Bob, so we wanted the website to feel the way the game does: eerie, cold and quietly powerful. Our references were the looming moon from Majora's Mask and the empty, heavy calm of Death Stranding. The energy starts quiet, builds toward Bob and then settles, so that pressing "Play" feels like a decision rather than a reflex.

What's next

The world is built. Next we fill it: the story, Bob's first real render, the trailer, screenshots and the first devlog entries all land on moonfall.world as development continues. Go break the moon, and remember that it won't heal.
